About Gary Vincent, the Odd Job Man

Gary has also built numerous projects for friends and family in his workshop which is fully equipped with the necessary machine tools. Now that Gary is the odd job man, he can help design and build any small woodworking projects that customers may need in his workshop.
Gary and Michele moved to Whitianga in 1998 and bought a small, plain holiday bach on a large sloping site overlooking the bay. Gary's practical skills came in handy as they spent the next 16 years transforming the blank sheet into a landscaped, cosy family home. This meant starting from scratch and Gary planned and built;
- An extensive system of retaining walls, hardstand area and driveway.
- A 42 sq. metre garage/workshop with 2.8 metre high stud and over-height roller doors.
- Extensions to the original decks on 4 sides of the house.
- Milling and laying of recycled kauri board floors in all the service areas of the house.
- A large extension to the house.
- Retro-fitting double glazed windows throughout the house.
- Upgrading all thermal insulation to exceed building code requirements.
- A large network of drainage systems to carry excess rainwater runoff away from the house and garage.
- Landscaping and terracing of the rear section which includes raised-bed vegetable gardens.
- Enclosing a large part of the back section for a chook run and building a moveable hen house.
- Renovating the original shower room to maximise floor space and increase daylight ingress.
- Renovate the kitchen to give extra cabinets, drawers and counter top area.
- Additional shelving and storage solutions in laundry and study.
- Outdoor garden lockers and bench unit with plumbed in water.
Gary works mainly in Whitianga town but will accept jobs in the Mercury Bay area and may negotiate a mileage fee for repeat trips to more remote areas.
